Narine H. Persad of Trinidad, a 2003 College of Business graduate, recently joined the Geology, Geophysics and Engineering team at EOG Resources Trinidad Limited.

EOG Resources, a Fortune 600 company based in Houston, Tex., is one of the largest independent (non-integrated) oil and natural gas companies in the United States with proved reserves in the U.S., Canada, offshore Trinidad and the United Kingdom North Sea.

Persad holds a master of petroleum technology from University of Trinidad and is  a dual degree graduate of SIU - earning a bachelor of science in electrical engineering and an MBA with an emphasis in management of information systems and finance.  He graduated with a 4.0 GPA and began his career in Houston working for EOG’s IT department.

“SIU College of Business provided world class professors and teaching facilities,” said Persad.  “I always felt challenged and was provided with the proper tools to excel  -- such as wireless networking, cutting edge computer labs and software, professors who are always accessible for advice and great library facilities.”

Persad praises Associate Professor Michael Michalisin who “stood out to me as a truly mind opening individual who used his broad experience in industry and academia to push students to produce the best they can.  Professor Charles Litecky, who’s never ending enthusiasm for being at the cutting edge of IT, helped open many possibilities for his students,” he said.
