[L-R] Dena Stogsdill and Sharon Moore are honored with service awards.

Two long-time Southern Illinois University employees have been honored with service awards.

Dena Stogsdill, development and marketing coordinator and Sharon N. Moore, office systems specialist III, have won the SIU College of Business Outstanding Service Award and Outstanding Service Honor Roll Award, respectively.

“I was so surprised and excited when I heard the news,” said Stogsdill. “I truly enjoy my work at the College of Business so it’s wonderful to be recognized for something I love doing.”

“I really like my job because I get to work with outstanding faculty and I get to interact with wonderful students,” Moore said.

Stogsdill plans and executes all College of Business development and marketing events. She also supervises student workers in the Office of the Dean.

“Dena Stogsdill is very deserving of this award,” said Associate Dean Suresh K. Tadisina. “She is the epitome of the dedicated professional. She is a tireless worker who always goes above and beyond her call of duty.”

“Dena Stogsdill is quite simply exceptional,” said Donna Margolis, director of the College of Business Career Services and Placement Center. “Her gifted manner in handling interpersonal relationships makes each person she comes into contact with feel appreciated. Her smile and upbeat attitude are truly infectious. Dena embodies the College mantra which is ‘Inspiring lives. Transforming business.’”

An SIUC staff member for 11 years, Stogsdill has also held positions at the Center for Advanced Friction Studies, Office of Research Development and Administration and the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute.

A native of Pinckneyville, Stogsdill holds a Certificate of Secretarial Studies from Robert Morris College and she is working toward a bachelor’s degree from SIUC.

Moore works with Finance Chairman James J. Musumeci to run the department office. “Sharon keeps the department running smoothly despite insurmountable odds,” said Musumeci. “I’m organizationally challenged but the department is in fine shape and we owe it all to Sharon.”

“Sharon has been vital to the transition between long-serving chairman Hussein Elsaid who recently retired and the new charismatic chairman Dr. James Musumeci,” said J. Dennis Cradit, dean of the College of Business. “We are so fortunate to have her here.”

February will mark Moore’s 10th anniversary at SIUC. She previously worked in the Dean’s Office at the College of Liberal Arts and the College of Agricultural Sciences.

Originally from North Carolina, Moore is working on a bachelor’s degree in information systems technologies at SIUC.
