More than 100 golfers participated in the 23rd Annual School of Accountancy Golf Scramble on Sept. 21. The event gave accounting students an opportunity to spend the day with accounting professionals, faculty and classmates.

College of Business alumni travelled from across the country to play in the tournament and to meet students. “I had so much fun conversing with professionals in a relaxed setting I couldn't have asked for a better way to network with such great people,” said Andrew Gonzales, a junior in the School of Accountancy.

Organized by School of Accountancy Director Marcus D. Odom and Lecturer Cathy Lumbattis, the tournament also gave students a chance to spend time with popular professors.

“Professor Cathy Lumbattis has been a great influence in my career here at SIU and has helped me greatly in the classroom as well as outside of the classroom. Her involvement in all activities inside and outside of the School of Accountancy is what I feel is making SIU a better university every year and I can say with conviction that SIU is one of America's best assets in preparing students for todays business world,” Gonzales said.
