Southern Illinois University marketing and engineering students are participating in team-building activities organized and presented by Touch of Nature Environmental Center.

“The students are working together to determine appropriate markets and commercialization opportunities for new products and technologies developed as part of engineering senior projects,” said Maryon F. King, associate professor of marketing and director of the Partnership for Innovation Center at SIU College of Business.

The classes involve students taking Marketing 493 class and ECE 495. In addition to King, engineering faculty members participating include Kay Purcell, Fran Harackiewicz and Alan Weston.

“Because we were placed in groups with engineering students, I learned a lot about teamwork and about problem-solving,” said Melissa Gustafson of Orland Hills, a senior majoring in marketing. “It turned out to be a lot of fun. Dr. King always makes class fun because of her great personality.”
